Hello everyone, as I mentioned that the version 4.7 reduces memory footprint by a large amount, but I have good news; You have been updated to version 4.8 of Location Bar Enhancer (or you just installed version 4.8 directly). Version 4.8 minimizes the memory footprint to the fullest, occupying only about 450~500 KB space throughout use.
Version 4.8 also adds two very useful features to the add-on:
- Shortcut keys for navigating through the breadcrumbs:
Alt + UPto go one level up in the current url.
Ctrl + Shift + UPto go to a previous sibling of the current address. Previous sibling is the url just above the current/bold url in the drop down menu of the second last breadcrumb’s arrow.
Ctrl + Shift + DOWNto go the next sibling of the current address.
- Auto incrementing of url addresses ending with name_001.jpg.
- An address like “www.site.com/file_002.htm” will be auto incremented to “www.site.com/file_003.htm” and so on.
- You can also choose these auto generated values from the breadcrumb drop down menu.
It also includes a new theme for the breadcrumbs, Devtools Light. This theme is set by default on any new installs, and users whose add-on got updated to 4.8 from any previous version can set this new theme from “Options Window > Breadcrumb Style > Choose Theme Menu list”. This theme is highly inspired by the breadcrumbs of the Inspector developer tool. This new theme is best suited for Firefox 15 and above (be it Aurora or Nightly) which contains the new Identity icons.
Here is a screenshot of the new theme.
: To check the memory usage, go to about:memory page and click on the Minimize Memory button 1-2 times, then search for “uienhancer@girishsharma”.
